Have you ever asked yourself “What is great work and am I engaged in doing it? .
Another way to get to the heart of this question might be asking yourself the following:
- Satisfaction: How much creative satisfaction does this work provide me? Does it fuel me with energy or does it drain energy out?
- Impact: How does my craft impact people around me? There is absolutely no job that doesn’t have an impact on people. Even if you’re writing a sophisticated algorithm, chances are a human is using it on the other end. Think about the level of impact or the outcome.
- Purpose: What is the “why” behind what I do?. Do I have a “why?”. If not, why not?
