I’ve managed teams at small companies.
I’ve led teams at big companies.
I’ve noticed this on every single team:
Every single team had some form of “friction”.
👉🏻 What is “friction”?
Friction slows down everything in its path. It causes bottlenecks and breakdowns and it frustrates employees to no end.
If you want to solve for friction, you have to look for it first:
👉🏻 There are typically two types of friction:
1️⃣ Task friction:
→ Is your team struggling with a task, process, system? This might be a training or motivation challenge.
2️⃣ Relationship friction:
→Is your employee struggling with their relationship with you, their peers, or someone else?. Chances are this is a chemistry issue.
Your job is to identify friction on your team and help your team figure out ways to overcome it.
The sooner you identify friction on your team, the better off everyone will be. Friction is everywhere. It’s a part of life.
Don’t just accept it, figure out ways to reduce it
